The Rights of Clients
In order for clients to receive service at L.A.S.S.A. they must provide identification. The accessibility criteria for landed immigrants in Canada are official immigration documents such as the IMM1000, IMM5292 or the Permanent Residence Card. Clients who are Protected Persons have to provide the Letter of Acceptance
For other status clients, a driver's license or a government issued document are sufficient IDs.
All Clients have the right to receive service in English and/or French and the languages spoken by the Settlement Worker.
Clients have the right to be treated with respect.
Client's have the right to receive service without discrimination based
on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex,
sexual
orientation, age, marital status, family status or mental or physical
disability or the receipt of public assistance
Clients have the right to consistent, timely, understandable and accurate information
Clients have the right to provide feedback on the service provided
The Responsibility of Clients:
Clients have the responsibility of providing documents before receiving service
Clients have the responsibility of appearing on time for a scheduled appointment
Clients have the responsibility of updating their contact information with L.A.S.S.A. if an authorization has been given to a LASSA settlement worker to communicate with government and non government agencies on the behalf of the client
Clients have the responsibility of waiting patiently to receive service
Clients have the responsibility of being respectful to all members of the L.A.S.S.A. staff
Clients have the responsibility of providing accurate and timely feedback on the service provided
